By In News & Updates On September 26, 2017

Be on the Lookout for…

  • Tuesday folders are jam packed full of work today. Please take time to review work samples and work with your child on areas they struggled.
  • 1st quarter interim reports, along with Literacy assessment results will ALSO come home today. Please sign and return right away. We will have conferences scheduled for the End of 1st quarter but if you need to meet with me before then just email me and let me know!
  • There is an early release day this Friday, September 29 @ 1:15.

This week in Literacy:

LITERACY ASSESSMENTS ARE FINISHED!! Can you tell I am a little excited to be past that and onto bigger and better things? 🙂 We are also finishing our unit on character traits and will continue to use the PARTY strategy to help us read and respond to questions.

In writing, we are wrapping up our personal narratives about an injury we have had. The more details, the better the story!

This week in Math:

This week students are beginning a new math unit- geometry! This topic is fun but vocabulary is KEY to understanding. For this reason, students will keep a geometry cheat sheet inside their agendas. For homework this week in math, they will need to shuffle and rematch vocab words daily. Please help however you can with this. word-geometry

Ask students to see their Chatterkid creation of their favorite polygon! Many of them have already uploaded these to their Google Drive. We will organize our drive on Friday for easy access to all of our #owlsome work!

An awesome former coworker of mine created an amazing math review resource organized by skill. Check it out for games and activities on any math concept we cover in 3rd grade!

Concepts to review: place value, addition with regrouping, subtraction with borrowing

A year long “Scope and Sequence” which lays out our math curriculum pacing for the year can be found here
