This week in Literacy:

Students have 2 reading incentives going on this month.  Please be on the lookout for these items: 1) Reading passport- Students have until THIS FRI APR 1st to “Read Across America”. Each 20 minutes of reading equals a new state stamped by me in class on their passport. If they reach the goal of 1000 minutes by the deadline, they will be invited to an afterschool Luau to celebrate their reading stamina! All YOU have to do parents is acknowledge the reading titles and minutes each night at the bottom of agendas. Students are of course encouraged to read over weekends too:) 2) Dr Seuss Reading Bingo- students can earn a prize sheet as a reward for completing 20 of these activities over the course of the month. These can be used simultaneously as they earn reading minutes! Thank you for supporting your child as we push them to be voracious readers with improved reading stamina!  In Module 4 we will explore the impact of water around the world! Find out standards, goals, and more by clicking this link to the parent information letter.

This week in Math:

The last remaining unit of our math curriculum begins this week with some more measurement concepts. Students will learn about US Customary measurement of length (in, ft, yd, mile), capacity (cup, pint, quart, gallon), and weight (oz, lb, ton). To assist parents in helping their kids I have included a guide. I know I had to refresh myself on some of these, so hopefully this makes things easier! word-measurement
