  • Next Mon/Tue Nov 23 and 24 are also asynchronous. The remaining days next week are vacation days.
  • Each day, please make sure your child brings:

    – Any information or personal messages on other days will be communicated through Class Dojo.

  • The Oakview DanceFit event is this Friday! Thank you for those who have already shown their support. Ask your child what great traits they have learned about and be sure to visit funrun.com for details! ALL students should wear their DanceFit tshirt FRIDAY for the event!

This week in Literacy:

Students are writing an opinion writing piece from the perspective of a turkey who does NOT want you to eat him at Thanksgiving this year! Stay tuned for some creative and hilarious pleas using the awesome App Chatterkid! word- chatterkid

Students are finishing the chapter book, The Year of Miss Agnes. We have been identifying character traits and learning how these impact story events. We will looked at point of view and main idea. Students have learned a lot about the Allakaket Alaskan region already and will continue to apply their knowledge in reading and social studies these next few weeks. Check out this awesome map which shows the actual locations mentioned in the story, and photos which display some of the topics covered in this book. Students will make one of these maps in social studies this week!!

This week in Math:

Students are working with multiplication and division strategies for the next several weeks. Starting after Thanksgiving, students will continue with specific fact practice with the goal of fact fluency. We are reviewing the strategies used in multiplication (Number line, repeated addition, skip counting, arrays, and equal groups drawings) and will also cover unknowns and the PROPERTIES for multiplication (commutative, distributive, and associative). We will continue to solve MULTI STEP addition, subtraction, multiplication and division through number lines, arrays, visual models, and more!  Multiplication/division will be the MAJOR focus on 2nd quarter. Memorization of facts is an expectation come January! May as well start prepping now! There are tons of great resources for this skill- please check some out here in this amazing math review resource organized by skill.
